From a brief to a working website.
Turn the idea into a site and check it properly
In this shorter class, we went from a brief to a website build. I want you to see the whole journey: decide what the page must say, give the builder clear instructions, inspect the result and open the live link before you share it.
What you will learn
- Start with your own facts and content you have permission to use.
- Tell the builder exactly what the page should contain and what each button should do.
- Check the real link, not just the preview or an upload success message.
Follow the exercise
- Pick your project. Use your own service or portfolio, or make up a business for practice. Gather the offer, who it is for, how people should contact you, and any logo or photos you may use.
- Get the brief right. Give the AI those facts and let it ask questions one at a time. Fix wrong service descriptions and claims you cannot support. Save the final brief outside the chat so you can use it again.
- Tell it what to build. List the sections, actual words, look and feel, images and buttons. Say how it should work on a phone. If you plan a static upload, ask for index.html and local assets, not just a screenshot.
- Inspect the result. Open the preview yourself. Read the words, try the menu and buttons, and look at it on a narrow screen. Check that the name, pictures and claims are yours. Ask for specific fixes; you do not need to start over each time.
- Check the published page. If it is your project and you are ready to publish, upload the built files. Then open the actual URL in a fresh browser. Try the links and check the images. An upload success message does not mean the site works.
- Show what you made. Keep the brief, final prompt and a note of what you fixed. Share a working link if you have checked it. Otherwise, a private screenshot is fine.
Your practice task
Build one page for your own project. Keep your brief and write down two fixes you made after inspecting the preview. Share the live link only if you have opened and checked it.
